PGT-A

PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploids), known as PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening). PGT-A is a genetic screening test, mainly for couples who have no genetic disorders. The test is performed in the first days of the in vitro fertilization procedure. The test consists in assessing the number of all chromosomes present in a cell taken from the embryo at an early stage of its development. Deviations from the norm in the number of individual chromosomes aneuploid or change in the number of all chromosomes (polyploidy) are responsible for the majority of abortions in the first trimester of pregnancy and failure in in vitro fertilization. The PGT-A test identifies aneuploidy and the selection of a healthy and best-anticipating embryo for transfer.

Who should perform the PGT-A (PGS) test?

The PGT-A test is a chance for pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child for couples:

  • approaching the in vitro fertilization procedure,
  • experiencing one or more miscarriages,
  • after unsuccessful in vitro fertilization procedures,
  • where the female is more than 35 years old,
  • who have been diagnosed as carriers of genetic diseases,
  • from families suffering from genetic diseases, in which the disease was revealed clinically,
  • after cancer treatment in the past

Why is it worth to perform the PGT-A (PGS) test?

  • The study allows the selection of a healthy and best-promising embryo for transfer.
  • The transfer of a healthy embryo increases the chance of pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child and reduces the risk of miscarriage.
